PRESENTATION: ARCHITECTURAL WORKS BY BJARKE INGELS GROUP AND ICON ARCHITECTURE IN COPENHAGEN
This presentation highlights the architectural works of the firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) in Copenhagen and its surroundings, and discusses contemporary iconic architecture.
How do several of Bjarke Ingels’ buildings engage with a new approach to experiential design, where form is just as important as function, and mixed-use design is a key focus?
What happens when values from experiential architecture—such as striking forms and cultural activities—are integrated into residential buildings?
The presentation focuses on projects such as 8Tallet, VM Houses, Bjerget, Amager Skibakke, the Danish Maritime Museum, and the Cactus Towers.
We will then discuss design and aesthetics in relation to contemporary iconic architecture. What does Danish iconic architecture look like in 2026, considering the high demands for sustainable building and reuse of construction materials?
Is the golden age of architecture of the 2000s over? What can we expect from the architecture of the future?
