From brewery to new city district

For more than 160 years, Carlsberg's brewery was an important part of this area of Copenhagen. Brewing began here in 1847 and continued until 2008.

Today, the former brewery site is being transformed into the Carlsberg City District, a mixed neighbourhood with housing, workplaces, shops, educational institutions, public spaces and cultural destinations.

The transformation raises an important architectural question:
